building a pattern layer by stitching

these are from last fall. what to do next with this idea? i really want to embroider a few yards of fabric....on the machine. like just build up layers and layers and layers but i think it would take forever. i also have this image in my head of a very basic 50s style dress (maybe a full a-line in stead of anything too poofy) and the bottom is all hand embroidered marks that are very dense and then they scatter as they move towards the top.

also would love to make the same dress with densely packed hand embroidered stripes of stitch marks like in the examples above. or! an embroidered plaid.
